Congratulations – Lucy, Rebekah, Mark, Geoffrey, Pam and Peter Dennison gratefully and joyfully welcome a new brother, son, nephew and grandson, Whitman Lane Dennison, born May 26.
Shrine Mont Waiting List -- Due to an unusually high volume of early registrations for our July 13-15 Shrine Mont retreat, we are already filled to capacity! We have started a waiting list in case we have cancellations or if more rooms become available. If you are interested in adding your name to this list, please call the church office at 295-2156.
A Word from the Treasurer – Realizing that many parishioners are away for part of the summer, the Vestry asks that you keep up your pledge payments so that we can meet our regular monthly expenses. We are grateful for your generosity.
Community Night – Our final community night dinner and Wednesday evening service of this school year was May 23, 2012. The dinners and the Wednesday night services will resume in September.
Ordination of Rob Morris to the Transitional Diaconate - Robert Lee Morris will be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Comforter in Richmond. Rob was sponsored for ordination by Church of Our Saviour, and we got to know him as an intern here at St. Paul's.
News from St. Paul's Ivy - On Wednesday, June 20 at 5:30 p.m., the Rev. Eric Liles will be instituted as the new rector of St. Paul's Ivy.
Vacation Bible School – It's time to start thinking about VBS! The dates are June 25 - 29 (9:30 a.m. - noon), and this year's theme is The Story of Paul. All children 3 and up are welcome, although we do ask that three year olds have attended preschool or are happy to stay. Please join us for a week full of storytelling, art, crafts, music, drama, games, snacks, and a whole lot of fun. Are you an EfM graduate? If you join the new EfM Alumni/ae Association you can have the PDF's of all four years of lessons for free. Dues will be $25 per year, members will receive special privileges, and every penny of your $25 will be used for scholarships. Men's Bible Study – School is out but the Men's Bible Study is moving into the summer continuing our discussion of the Gospel of Mark. Come join us Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., for bagels and coffee!

Interfaith Power and Light project for Air Pollution Control
Parishioners who didn’t get a chance to sign postcards to the Environmental Protection Agency last week are invited to do so at a table in the Parish Hall after the 10:00 a.m. service on June 10 and June 17.
The EPA is accepting public comment before deciding on proposed stricter standards on carbon pollution from new coal fired power plants. Members of St. Paul’s are invited to join other congregations in signing postcards in support of these standards. Installing the most modern pollution controls available will significantly reduce the amount of carbon and other pollution from the plant smokestacks – pollution that is a significant cause of climate change and triggers dangerous symptoms in many people with respiratory and heart diseases.
Reel Theology: Summer films and theological reflections - Again this summer we are planning to show a series of films that work well as a basis for a theological reflection in June and July. Come join us on Wednesday nights beginning June 13. Since we don't have Community Night during the summer, eat before you come, or brown bag it - we'll provide popcorn. The movies will start promptly at 7; the discussion will follow, after a short break. If you want to come just for the movie, that's OK too. We also have one movie for kids of all ages: "Up".
