This Sunday, May 16: Centennial Celebration of the Ministries of Pastoral Care and Spiritual Life!
- Talk with members about their experience in pastoral and spiritual life ministries in the parish hall between 9-10am and after the 10am service. If you have been wondering what pastoral ministry is about, or how to get involved, this is your chance to find out!
- Worship at the 10am service of Holy Eucharist with prayers for healing and blessing of prayer shawls
- Come to Adult Forum at 11:30am-12:15pm to hear Suzanne Smith, Chaplain at Martha Jefferson Hospital, talk with us about how we do pastoral care in our community.
Prayer Shawl Ministry - Following this Sunday’s 8:00 service, Peggy Latham and Carol Muntz will be available to display prayer shawls. Ann Normansell, Jane Rotch and Mary Carolyn Lawson will display shawls following the 10:00 service. If you know of someone who needs comfort, please take a shawl. The shawls are knit with prayerful intention for comfort and healing.
A Note from Jim Richardson - As everyone knows by now, a 4th year student, Yeardley Love, was found killed (allegedly by her ex-boyfriend) a week ago. What you may not know is she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority which meets here at St. Paul's on Monday evenings. Our Associate Rector Ann Willms has been reaching out to the sorority women, and she spoke at a special private memorial service we hosted for the sorority a week ago. I am hugely proud of Ann's work with these young women who are much in grief, and our outreach to them is in the finest tradition of why we were founded to serve the University of Virginia community.
New Nursery Coordinator – Vicki Fantozzi (and her husband Tom Fallace) are moving at the start of the summer. Vicki has done a wonderful job and we will miss her greatly. We are very excited to announce that Glynnis Welte has accepted an offer to become our new Nursery Coordinator. We are confident that she will continue the great work being done in the nursery.
The Charlottesville Women’s Choir- The 26th Annual Spring Concert will be Sat. May 22nd, at 7:30 pm, at The Haven. Enjoy an evening of multicultural, a cappella music that promotes peace, justice, and equality! The Haven is located on the corner of First and Market Streets in Downtown Charlottesville. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Interfaith Pray for Peace Gathering - Please join us in the Chapel on Thursday, May 27 from 7:15pm to 9:00pm as St. Paul ’s hosts the Charlottesville Interfaith Pray for Peace Gathering. The Interfaith Pray for Peace Gathering welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs to an inspired and inspiring flow of prayers, meditations and songs for peace. Commencement Sunday and Pentecost Outdoor Service and Picnic, Sunday, May 23rd - Service of Holy Eucharist at 8:00 am at St. Paul's. Pentecost Outdoor Service and Picnic from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at McIntire Park shelter #3.
Playground - Recently, some of the Chancellor Street/St. Paul's playground equipment was damaged. If everyone could help keep an eye on the playground and try to supervise children playing there, our investment should last a long time.
