Condolences of the parish to Mary Richardson upon the death of her husband, The Rev. Mel Richardson; Jacqueline Gergen upon the death of her brother, Thomas Dunn; Kay Lancaster, upon the death of her father, Bob Habenstein; and Sean Bugg upon the death of his grandfather, Leon Hope.

PLEASE WEAR YOUR NAMETAG – We have many new people at St. Paul's. If you are new, please ask for a nametag so that we can get to know you. And if you have been here awhile, please show your hospitality by wearing a nametag. We know some people are a little uncomfortable wearing nametags, but making it easy for people to know your name is one way we can show we are a caring community to each other. Thanks.

Volunteers needed for the ministry of linen -- Our worship is lovingly and reverently enhanced every week by a group of people behind the scenes who wash and iron the linens we use in our Holy Eucharist. The linens are small napkins (called purificators) and square linen clothes on the Holy Table (called a "corporal"). It is a simple but crucial ministry that melds hospitality with worship. It can be done at home, and helps welcome all who walk through our doors. Habitat for Humanity - St. Paul's Memorial is joining Episcopal Region XV church groups to build at Habitat for Humanity's marvelous Sunrise redevelopment of an old trailer park in Charlottesville. Your help is needed on July 30. Just show up and the work at hand will be given for you to choose!. We will be there from 7:45 am to 2:30 pm, with a communal lunch break at 11 am. As the project progresses, we will be given workdays to provide lunch for the whole crew. Even if you don't want to pound a hammer, you can help by being on a lunch crew. Contact Frances Lee-Vandell if you are interested ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it 434.293.9893 ).

Reception Honoring Mike Mitchell - St. Paul's will host a reception honoring Mike Mitchell this Sunday, July 24, after the 10 a.m. service. Cake, lemonade and fixings! Plus lots of great companionship.

Reel Theology: Summer films and theological reflections - Join us for our last film of the summer. A power outage prevented our watching the move on July 20 so we are having an encore presentation on Wednesday, July 27, at 7 p.m. Since we don't have Community Night during the summer, eat before you come, or brown bag it -- we'll provide popcorn. The movie will start promptly at 7 p.m.; the discussion will follow, after a short break. The movie for that evening is Shane, an unrated classic from 1953 with a run time of 118 minutes.

Sunday Scriptures: Going deeper – Join Rob Morris, M.Div., our Summer Intern, for a preview of the following Sunday’s Scripture lessons after our 10:00 am worship each Sunday in the Lounge. We’ll examine what the lessons say, and explore why they say it, and, time permitting, the way they say it. Read ahead! We’ll be glad to welcome you. Here is the schedule for the readings.

July 24

Genesis 32:22-31 - Cosmic Championship Wrestling

Romans 9:1-5 - What the Nazis Didn’t Want You to Know

Matthew 14:13-21 - The Fishes and the Loaves

July 31

Genesis 37:1-4, 12-28 - Providential Personal Problem

Romans 10:5-15 - Urgent Mission

Matthew 14:22-33 - Walking on Water

Hunger does not take a summer vacation - Hunger is a hard lesson no child should ever have to learn. But tragically, it's a lesson many children of low income parents are facing — because it's summer. During the school year these children rely on school lunches to fill their empty stomachs. Now that classes are out, many boys and girls lose access to the only place they had to get a decent meal. Now they are at home seven days a week often without enough food for breakfast and lunch. Struggling families in Greene County turn to The Greene County Food Pantry for assistance. This month our Shop and Share program is asking parishioners to bring spaghetti sauce and canned peas for the pantry. If it it is inconvenient or you will be away from the area, please consider writing a check to St. Paul's with a notation "Food Pantry" on the memo line.!

Greene Co. Food Pantry Ingathering. The Ministry Beyond Our Walls team needs several volunteers to take turns inventorying our food donations and being sure that they are in sturdy bags before John and Susie Maben pick up the bags for delivery to the food pantry. Hopefully, we can establish a schedule of Sundays for different volunteers to take on this task. Please contact Joan Burchell, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Come join in thanksgiving and song! The music program at St. Paul's is looking for volunteers this summer. We are welcoming anyone who would like to provide music for the Introits (before the Procession, after the Prelude) this summer to join us! This invitation is open to all, whether you play an instrument or sing, on your own or in an ensemble. All we are asking is for a short (3 minutes, maximum) selection, and which Sunday in July or August you would be interested in performing (and, if a small group, who else is involved).

Also, for one of those Sundays, we are assembling a small Handbell Ensemble--if you think you'd enjoy learning to ring (or refreshing past skills!) with this group, we'd love to have you!

Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for questions or if you are interested in performing. We hope to bring a wonderful variety to our worship this summer, so please sign up.
